Canberra Optometrist

Our Optometry and Eye Test Services in Canberra

Checkup Plus™

Checkup Plus™ is more than just an eye test in Canberra. Our optometrists take the time to give you a thorough eye examination. Following your Checkup Plus™ we’ll carefully explain the results and discuss our recommendations regarding any preventative or remedial care required.

Children’s Vision

1 in 5 Australian children have vision problems. We provide specialised pediatric eye tests in Canberra to ensure that any vision problems and learning difficulties related to vision are identified. Our Canberra optometrists are very comfortable working with children.

Diabetic Exam

The health of the retina is very dependent on a good blood supply to the eye. Diabetes compromises blood circulation and can cause serious damage to the retina (diabetic retinopathy). Regular eye tests are essential for diabetics in Canberra – to help reduce the risk of vision loss and blindness.

Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration is a disease associated with aging that gradually destroys central vision. Using the latest technology, including retinal scanning and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), we’re able to take an in-depth look at your eyes and assess your overall eye health.

Glaucoma Exam

Glaucoma is a disease where the pressure within the eye is typically increased (although not always). This pressure can damage parts of the eye, and if left untreated, may result in blindness. Diagnosis consists of having regular eye tests in Canberra to enable early detection. Our tests include pressure measurement and visual field testing. If necessary we can refer you to an eye doctor in Canberra for surgical management.

Dry Eye Treatment

Dry eye disease or dry eye syndrome is caused by a chronic lack of sufficient lubrication and moisture on the surface of the eye. We provide eye tests and a range of treatments to alleviate the symptoms of dry eye in Canberra.

Our Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) equipment enables us to take a non-invasive 3D image of your retina, and also take a closer look at your eyes. This particular eye test – performed at our Canberra practice – helps us to identify any eye conditions that need monitoring or immediate treatment.

Optical Repairs

Junic Eyecare Plus provides an expert repair and adjustment service for prescription sunglasses and glasses in Canberra. If your glasses or sunglasses can’t be repaired, we can quote you on replacement lenses and/or frames. Our eyewear showroom in Canberra has a HICAPS terminal.

Binocular Vision

Binocular vision assessment is an expanding area of behavioural optometrist practice that considers your vision in relation to your visual demands, such as reading, computers, and learning to read and write. A binocular vision assessment checks that your vision is working easily and comfortably. The way that you interpret what you see does not depend solely on how clear your sight is.

Contact Lenses

We provide a wide range of hydrogel, silicone hydrogel and hypergel contact lenses in Canberra. Our optometrists will prescribe and dispense the right contact lenses for your eyes. We supply toric, bifocal, multifocal, astigmatism and coloured contact lenses in Canberra.

Colour Vision Testing

Colour vision deficiency is almost always inherited, although it can be an acquired condition (as a result of some diseases or injuries). Colour vision testing is a routine part of the general eye test we perform on every new patient in Canberra.

Emergency Eye Care

Our Canberra optometrists provide emergency eye care during opening hours. Common eye emergencies include penetrating and non-penetrating ocular injury, retinal detachment, chemical injury, acute angle closure glaucoma and orbital cellulitis. Eye emergencies should be attended to immediately.

Keratoconus Exam

Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease in which the normally round cornea thins and begins to bulge into a cone-like shape, causing distorted vision. If detected, our optometrists will explain the various treatments available to you in Canberra.

Prescription Sunglasses

Prescription sunglasses protect your eyes from harmful UVA/UVB rays in Canberra. We stock many of the big names in sunglass frames, including BOSS, David Beckham, Lacoste, Maui Jim and Furla. We also stock the Convertibles Eyewear range of magnetic polarised sunglass clip-ons in Canberra.
